Our West is wild…

…just ask our fans.

You may have seen Arizona’s Western cities on television recently. Perhaps it was the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, the 2007 BCS National Championship Game, a Monday Night Football game, the spring stop on the AVP Volleyball Tour or an NHL Coyote’s game (you know, the ones with coach and “Great One” Wayne Gretzky pacing by the bench?). And we hope you watched us on Feb. 3, 2008, when Glendale, Ariz. hosted the Super Bowl and the world’s spotlight shined brightly on the West Valley.

The roar of sports fans echoes from our cities’ nearby mountain tops as we’ve risen to become the destination of choice for the ESPN-addicted crowd. From the thunder of NASCAR’s fastest vying for top honors at Phoenix International Raceway to the crunching tackle of an NFL defensive line just doin’ its job—this is the soundtrack of Arizona’s West Valley. And this menu of non-stop sports action has fueled thousands of fans to celebrate under the West’s night sky, an experience made even easier thanks to the retractable roof on the state-of-the-art University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale or the open air ball parks of our West Valley spring training facilities.

Phoenix Coyotes

The National Hockey League Phoenix Coyotes have played hockey in the desert since moving from Winnipeg for the 1996-97 season. Under the direction of Managing Partner and Head Coach Wayne Gretzky and General Manager Don Maloney, the team now calls Jobing.com Arena in Glendale its home.

Although hockey fans might like to see Gretzky return to the ice as a player, fans around the world are equally excited that the greatest player in the history of the game has taken an active role with the team.

The Coyotes continue to work for a “Whiteout” – a popular tradition that started in Winnipeg but quickly carried over to Phoenix hockey fans – that involves all fans dressing in white during home postseason games. The Phoenix Coyotes Corporate Office is located in Westgate City Center at 6751 N. Sunset Blvd. #200, Glendale, Arizona 85305, Phone: 623-772-3200, Fax: 623-772-3201.
